FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
QMedia ISP in the Dark Again
by Tammy Lieber, Indiana Business Journal
December 9, 2002-Financial problems didn't stay away from Internet service provider QMedia LLC for long.
The Detroit-based company, which purchased locally based Netisun LLC earlier this year, had its broadband service disconnected for more than 24 hours in late October while it scrambled to obtain bridge financing to continue its operations.
The scenario repeated itself Dec 2, when QMedia'a network went dark again.
Both outages caused several hundred of QMedia's central Indiana customers - many of them small businesses and not-for-profit organizations - to lose e-mail and Web access.
On Dec 3, QMedia founder Quentin Kenan said the company is still in business and that he is working to arrange for permanent financing to continue operations. In the meantime, he said, Time Warner Cable, which provides QMedia's broadband connection, and Carmel-based ISP eGIX, Inc. were working to restore service to individual customers, he said.
